Message from Kenya

Kamau Gachinah - age 16
“My names are as above, and am 16 yrs in form 2 or second year
in high school in Kenya. I do like making friends and part of me
am a funny guy (joker).
Kamau is a Kikuyu name in Kenya, one of the tribes in Kenya
which is well and very respected. Am the last born in the family
of 4 and I love the fact that am born last.
Am brown in complexion and I like it.
Since when I was in elementary schools as you refer back in
states, I always wanted to be dealing with tourism as I was
interested in knowing parts of the world as it was and still is
my favorite hobby.
I love helping and that’s why am always ready to help.
I believe that one day, I will fly to States and see that place
people always say ‘it’s paradise on earth.’ My dream is to
fly all over the Europe.
Bye Bye”

"Ecclesiastes
Dagger Hands"
by David
Szathmary & Joe Richardson

Response
from Artist - "STAY & LEAD"
"Attached is the world’s first serigraph
using multi-colored ultra-violet inks.
This piece represents the Tibetan equivalent
of burying the hatchet, but before trouble
starts. It is a preventive medicine.
Africa is a
land facing great challenges this century.
Either it will continue to suffer from
AIDS and warfare, or there will be a
joining together, and a uniting of the
spirit against this disease that propagates
most rapidly in lawless areas.
It is an
honor to assist you in the Art Life
Kenya project.
Thank you
for this illuminating opportunity."
|
Artist comments: This work is a collaboration between David
Szathmary and Joe Richardson. Joe drew the lines and David got
the blacklight inks designed and screened correctly, which was a
long process, taking place at Obsolete Industries.
|

Since this is a serigraphy, an exact copy was donated and
delivered to the school in Kenya in August 2007.
